  never have been able to, its just something i can't do.

  some people can't whistle, sing or make lump free gravy... i can't spell.

  i am dislexic and long ago gave up worrying about not being able to spell and instead concentrated on getting the idea accross instead.. i managed to get through collage and uni without being able to spell and now am a sucessfull business woman who misspells her emails to clients ( mind you they mispell their replys).

  I had spelling problems in school and it took a long time to find out why. The answer - WB&TS! All the magazines and books we got, including the Bible (NWT) is written in US 'english' not proper English as used here in England. Punctuation is also different, for example we use semi-colons. (;)

  We must be one of the few countries in the world that cannot get the NWT or WT in their own language. I think they are even available in Welsh which is really just a 'hobby' language. (Sorry any Welsh posters).

  I know I am not the only one to have suffered because of this.

  was held in scotland to determine.

  if jehovah's witnesses should be exempt from military service and granted status as "ordained ministers".. what is of outstanding interest is that testimony in this trial is extraordinarily revealing.

  Whatever happened to Douglas Walsh? Did he go to prison? How long for? I wonder if they made an example of him; almost everyone got 3 months in those days. Is he still alive? There must be someone from Bonnie Scotland who knows of his whereabouts.

  There is an interesting account of this case in the May 27, 1942 issue of Consolation. It runs to about 16 pages. The article is called "San Diego's Official Line Up Against New Earth's Princes." Beth-Sarim was the first choice for Rutherford's burial, the second choice was Beth-Shan, the secret property just near by. In fact this article is apparantly the only time Beth-shan is mentioned in the Society's magazines.

  Anyone look at this board while still an IN and ACTIVE JW?

  i vaguely remember looking at this board a few years ago, before i ever considered leaving the borg, and being appalled at the evil and hateful attitudes i saw here and scared to death of reading any further.. now i go back through years and years of posts and there is no evil or hate there at all.

  it's one of the most kind and welcoming boards i've encountered since the invention of the internet.. that is how well borg indoctrination works.

  it is eerily like 1984. black is white.

  Yes, I am still in and just about active. This is due to family committments that I cannot afford to just walk away from. I am not prepared to 'cut off my nose to spite my face'! I am in my 60's and born in so another year or two planning my exit is no big deal. I found this and other sites a couple of years ago while looking something up. My eyes were opened wide by what I found about the history of JW's in general and Russell and Rutherford in particular. I only wish the internet had been around 40 odd years ago.

  the meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. if i did decide to go he didn't give me much notice to get ready.

  I hate the way they do this 'pretending to care' thing just before the CO's visit...its worse than just not caring...

  Apparently we also have 'creative counting' at meetings in the weeks leading up to the CO visit.

  increase in the last 10 years??

  the wt non-real study article for this coming week april 26 - may 2 in paragraph 3 mentions that during the past 10 yhears more than 2.7 million people have been baptized.

  i was wondering what the total dub land census was at that time i.e.

  10 years ago, and how many they are now, and of course the loses, any have that info i would very much appreicate it ifn you could post it here.

  The number baptised may be true but look at the publisher figures in the 2000 and 2010 Yearbooks:

  2009 Average Publishers = 7,046,419

  1999 Average publishers = 5,653,987

  10 Year increase = 1,392,432

  2009 Peak publishers = 7,313,173

  1999 Peak publishers = 5,912,492

  10 Year increase = 1,400,681

  As they say "There are lies, there are damned lies, and there are statistics!"

  Hardly a 2.7 million increase. Even if you consider about 1% dying off there is an awfully large shortfall!

  Finally finished my college degree

  this week i finally finished college.

  feels great to finally be completed.. i have to say that the process has been therapeutic.

  a year and a half ago when i started to go back i still defined myself in terms of my experience as a jw.. that is all gone now.

  Congratulations Drew. I had to wait until I was married before I was able to go to University but it was well worth it. I never ever regretted it for one second. In fact I hate to think how we would cope financially now had I not done that. Of course that was over 30 years ago so Armageddon should have been and gone by now! What a farse. WELL DONE.

  A nurse was on duty in the A&E when a young woman with purple hair styled into a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting a variety of tattoos, and wearing strange clothing, entered . . It was quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she was scheduled for an immediate operation....

  When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green, and above it there was a tattoo that read . .'Keep off the grass'

  Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's dressing, which read 'Sorry . . . had to mow the lawn.'

  i saw a thread on another forum suggesting this...based on all the info so readily available to so many nowadays...its certainly true that the society is warning all the witnesses about it.... what do you think?

  is it possible that it could seriously affect their status?

  The WTS has always had a 'shelf-life'........ it's wacky & tacky history is inescapable.

  That may be true, but walk into any KH and you will see the overwhelming majority neither know nor care. It will outlive the majority of us!
